Climate Change Impacts on the Wasatch Range
What does climate change mean for skiing in the Wasatch Range? What drives climate change, and how will changes in climate effect ski recreation here?
A Presentation and Art Show by Emily Nicolosi, PhD Student, Department of Geography, University of Utah. Emily will cover some basic climate science and global impacts of climate change on skiing. Climate impacts in the Wasatch Range will also be highlighted, including changes in precipitation, snowpack, temperature, and avalanche potential.
Along with the presentation, paintings by Emily Nicolosi will be displayed. Her paintings intend to capture the natural beauty of the Alta environment in a way that inspires viewers to have a love for this place and care for its conservation. A recipient of the 2016 ACE art grant, Emily will be donating a portion of all sales from the series displayed to the non¬profit Protect Our Winters, an organization seeking to raise awareness about climate change.
