backcountry tour planning

Tuesday, December 5th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $5 | Sign-up

Students will learn how to plan a backcountry ski or split board tour, considering avalanche conditions, snow conditions, weather, and more. Students will also engage with digital mapping tools to plan their day of touring. They will also learn and consider gear and other essential aspects of safe backcountry practices. This class is meant to expand on your prior avalanche knowledge and give you confidence in planning a backcountry tour. This is not an avalanche safety course. Students should preferably have previous knowledge of avalanche safety. Please bring your laptop or phone with a mapping app. Cal Topo is recommended.
