Alta Birdwatching 101: Your Gateway to Becoming a Birder

Alta Birdwatching 101: Your Gateway to Becoming a Birder

Tuesday, November 10 | 6:30pm-7pm | Additional time for Q & A | Virtual | Pre Register

Want to connect more with our feathered friends in Alta? Aspirations of being a birder? Getting to know Alta's winter birds is a great way to nail down the basics of birdwatching. There are only a dozen species to learn and Alta's many bird feeders allow for close encounters, no binoculars required! We’ll cover techniques on how to tell bird species apart, basic ecology, and where to find birds in Alta. Opportunities to get involved in bird research and conservation as a “community scientist” will also be introduced.

Instruction will be provided by Janice Gardner, a Certified Wildlife Biologist® and ecologist at Wild Utah Project. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the natural resources sector and is passionate about conservation of wildlife - especially birds - in the west.
