botanical skincare: make your own infused oil and balm
Tuesday, September 24th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $10 | Sign-up Required
Immerse yourself in the world of natural beauty and healing. Discover the power of plant-based ingredients, learn formulation techniques, and gain hands-on experience in creating personalized skincare products. Elevate your skincare routine with the wisdom of nature.
Each student will take home one 2oz Calendula Healing Balm and a 4oz personalized infused botanical oil. Persons with allergies to other members of the Asteraceae family (such as Feverfew, Chamomile, or Echinacea species) should exercise caution with Calendula, as allergic cross-reactivity to Asteraceae plants is common. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
Meet Your Backyard Herbalist: Journey through Nature's Remedies: Alex is your friendly backyard Herbalist! Her Haitian heritage has instilled a deep appreciation for diversity, nature, and herbalism. Embracing the spirit of adventure, she is often found relishing the outdoors or cruising on her bike, exploring the winding paths of Mother Nature's abundant gifts. The genesis of Navire Apothecary sprouted from her journey with Epilepsy, a diagnosis that nudged her toward a healthier lifestyle at a tender age. At 11, Alex began understanding the importance of eliminating toxins, leading her to embrace a holistic approach. Today, she advocates for natural remedies, crafting artisanal soaps, and skincare products to foster well-being. And, of course, she always emphasizes the simple yet vital act: "Remember to drink some water!" Join Alex on an educational voyage through this botanical skincare class, where she’ll uncover the healing wonders of nature, explore herbal remedies, and embrace a lifestyle that harmonizes with our bodies and the environment. Together, let's cultivate wellness, one natural step at a time!
