A comprehensive foundation is the key to success on the river

As the old adage goes… Any day on the river is a successful day fishing. That being said it's always more fun when you’re catching fish. A comprehensive fundamental understanding of trout and insect behavior is an integral part of putting fish in the net. Many of us (myself included) have gone out for a day on the river with a guide with the intention of learning to become a more successful angler. The trouble is that when you’re focused on fishing it's pretty difficult to get a grasp of the nuanced and subtle decisions that your guide is making throughout the day. This course is designed to make you think like a guide, think like a fish, and think like a bug.

At the end of this course you will feel confident with…

• Approaching the river with stealth

• Selecting the appropriate fly pattern that “matches the hatch” at that moment in time.

• Making a “quiet cast” and a drag-free float into the trout’s visual “window”.

• Staying alert and ready to set the hook
