Thursday, April 9th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $10 | Sign-up Required

Students will learn how to graft fruit trees. They will learn about Scions, Rootstocks, and several grafting techniques (whip and tongue, modified cleft). Students will need to be able to use a knife safely. Used to prepare for grafts. Each student will successfully graft an Apple and a Peach tree, using Scions and Various rootstocks, and can go home with 2 grafted trees.

For students 14 and up only.

Originally from Missouri/Kansas, have been an avid skier, 3rd generation Western Missouri born. Moved to Utah in 1979. Was part of the founding group of ACE in Mid 1990's, 4+ years as Executive director of ACE. My experience in fruit tree grafting has been 3+ years of grafting, many hours of YouTube university on How to Videos. First started Orchard work on Apple Farm in Louisburg, KS as a pre-teen for 3 falls, a brief experience picking cherries in Canada, and 2 years part-time work at Andy's Exotic Hawaiian Fruit farm. Have about 37 fruit trees, all still young. Most recently been helping with disease prevention and orchard development in Northern New Mexico.
