echoes of little cottonwood canyon: history, memory, and collage
Thursday, March 12th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $5 | Sign-up Required
Explore how historical photographs can be reinterpreted through contemporary collage and visual research. The presentation centers on Echoes of Little Cottonwood Canyon, a body of work created through an ACE grant, and examines how archival imagery can be used to explore memory, place, and history. This presentation is especially good for people interested in local history, photography, and contemporary art, as well as anyone curious about how artists work with historical source material to create new meaning. We will view and discuss finished collage works from the exhibition alongside historical photographs of Little Cottonwood Canyon, learning about their cultural and historical context and gaining insight into the artistic process behind the work.
