old fashioned root beer brewing

Learn the traditional art of brewing homemade root beer with Stan Bailey and his daughter, Melissa Mott. In this beginner-friendly class, students will work in pairs to explore the ingredients, equipment, and fermentation process used to make this old-fashioned beverage. Each participant will leave with two bottles of freshly prepared root beer to finish brewing at home.

Ages 8+. If under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Stan Bailey and his daughter, Melissa Mott, share a love of traditional skills, hands-on learning, and bringing people together through making. Stan has a passion for home brewing and will lead the root beer-making workshop, sharing his knowledge and guiding participants through the process. Melissa is the co-owner of Handcraft Revival, a folk school and market in Salt Lake City dedicated to preserving traditional crafts and passing them on to future generations. She will be assisting Stan throughout the class.
