artsy clothing upcycling
Tuesday, September 10th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $5 | Sign-up Required
Bring an item of clothing (hat, pants, sweatshirt, shoes, etc) that has a stain, a hole or two, or needs an extra flair. We will use various techniques including hand embroidery, beadwork, iron-on, and patchwork/applique to make your damaged item even more beautiful than before. It is recommended to bring two or three possible items to upcycle and see what inspires you with the materials and techniques provided.
Tage Hardy has been doing textile upcycling for about 3 years now. She was so excited to find a medium of creation and self-expression that didn’t support the destruction of our planet and that allowed so many different art styles (embroidery, beadwork, painting, sewing, stamping) to work together in one piece. Tage loves inspiring others to see a hole, a stain, or an item of clothing that no longer feels exciting as a blank canvas waiting to be reinvented. The popular “restriction yields creativity” speaks very true to her, having to work around the damage to an item of clothing forces Tage to adapt her art style and create things she never would have thought of otherwise.
ACE aims to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all of our attendees; please contact our Executive Director, Sara Gibbs, with any questions regarding accessibility.
