making room for mental health

Thursday, February 27th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | Free | Sign-up Required

With increased dialogue in the ski community encouraging people to “talk about mental health,” this conversation will address how to talk about it. Participants will explore what holding space looks like, spot warning signs, learn skills to engage and intervene, and identify accessible mental health resources. Understanding community and individual care options can guide participants away from “fixing” and move towards effective strategies that normalize mental health challenges and promote getting help.

Amanda moved to Utah in 2014 to attend Westminster College. A professor once told her she could be a therapist on skis one day, and she’s been chasing that dream since. Amanda joined the Alta community in 2022 through the Alf Engen Ski School. When not coaching AYC, she is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Utah and a first-year prac at the University Counseling Center. In using a feminist multicultural lens, Amanda hopes to educate my community and clients about the complex systems that might cause psychological distress and, with this awareness, provide support through informed healing practices.

ACE aims to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all of our attendees; please contact our Executive Director, Sara Gibbs, with any questions regarding accessibility.
