Snowflake Hunting

Wednesday, March 25th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $5 | Sign-up Required

Doug Wewer has been photographing snowflakes in Utah's Wasatch Range since 2009. He specializes in capturing real snowflakes, photographed on colorful backgrounds of wood and glass. He is constantly experimenting with new techniques, using his engineering skills to build his own equipment. Doug has loved snow his entire life, and spends as much time as he can on skis in the mountains. As a ski patroller, backcountry guide, and as an avalanche professional, he has examined countless snow crystals through a lens. When he discovered that these tiny, delicate snowflakes could be captured by camera, a whole new adventure began. When the conditions are right, he spends hours at a time out in the cold, often at night, trying to capture "just one more" snowflake. It has evolved into a treasure hunt, one that he would like to share with you.
