critters in the canyon: wildlife & nature photography workshop

Tuesday, August 26th | 6 PM | Our Lady of the Snows | $5 | Sign-up Required

Calling all nature lovers! In this class, students will learn the basics of wildlife and nature photography - including composition, lighting, angles, and camera settings, as well as tips and tricks on how to find and ethically observe wildlife. You are encouraged to join, no matter what camera you have; smartphones are welcome! The class will consist of a short presentation followed by a guided nature walk/hike, where we can put our new skills to use! Please bring a device to take pictures on, water, layers, and comfortable shoes to hike in.

Salt Lake City-based photographer, Chrissy Shammas, has always been enchanted by critters big and small. She holds a B.F.A. in Cinema and uses her camera to showcase the wonderful wildlife that calls Utah and the Mountain West home. Her work has been exhibited in galleries, libraries, state parks, and universities, and recently earned her a Diverse Voices and Perspectives Lecture Series Grant. She’s always looking for opportunities to share her work with the hope that it will inspire others to take care of local wildlife and their habitats.

ACE aims to create an inclusive and accessible environment for all of our attendees; please contact our Executive Director, Sara Gibbs, with any questions regarding accessibility
